Mr Aali Sheen qualified in medicine from the University of Dundee in 1993 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998 (FRCS). Mr Sheen then undertook research at the Christie hospital for which he obtained a Doctorate in Medicine in 2003 from the University of Manchester (M.D.) followed by his final specialist fellowship in general surgery in 2005 (FRCS Gen Surg). He undertook training in general surgery in London, Oxford, Leeds and Manchester.
Mr Sheen’s main clinical interests are diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. He has expertise in advanced laparoscopic ‘keyhole’ surgery and mainly undertakes procedures for the treatment of gallstones and cancers of both the liver and pancreas.
Mr Sheen was appointed a consultant general surgeon in December 2005 at Manchester Royal Infirmary and has, to date, undertaken 1000 laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedures for gallstones and approximately 400 major cancer procedures involving the liver and pancreas in his first seven years as a consultant surgeon.
Mr Sheen provides a fast track, seamless service for all patients who are referred suffering from ailments within his field including gallstones, weight loss, jaundice, pancreatitis, suspected cancer of the liver and pancreas, and abdominal symptoms or pain.
