HCA Hospitals win record levels of patient satisfaction for the third year running

Over 99% rate overall quality of care as good or better - over 98% say they would recommend us!

For the third year running, an independent audit of patient satisfaction at HCA’s hospitals and joint venture NHS private patient units, has broken records for high levels of approval by patients.

Across the group, 99.0% of in-patients said they rated the overall quality of care as good or better and 99.6% of patients said they felt cared for and treated with respect and dignity. In addition, almost 99% rated the cleanliness of their room as good or better.

Meanwhile over 98% of patients said they would recommend their HCA hospital to their family and friends.

Patients were asked to answer a very comprehensive survey which included areas such as: overall impression of the admission process, overall nursing care, accommodation, catering and the discharge and departure process. Across the group, all hospitals improved or maintained their previous high scoring record.

Rosemary Hittinger, Group Director of Clinical Performance and Governance at HCA International, said HCA was now measuring levels of excellence rather than using the usual satisfaction scoring as before in order to push standards even higher.

“As part of an industry wide move, we will be making aspects of our surveys compatible with all other hospitals – private and NHS. We will be asking our questions in exactly the same way so that potential patients and their relatives can compare the facts and make an informed decision about their choice of hospital,” she said.

Michael Neeb, HCA International President and Chief Executive Officer, said the results of the survey reflected well on everyone in the company. “It is not at all easy to consistently maintain such high standards so this is a considerable achievement. I want to thank all our staff for their hard work and continuing dedication to providing the highest standards of patient care,” he said.
